TO OUR
DEAREST FRIENDS,
I do not say
friends "lightly." Since 1979 when Homeward Bound started its ministry to
the Body of Christ, you have all been there, faithfully fulfilling the words
of Proverbs 17:17, "A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for
adversity." We have read your letters and felt your prayers as we have
faced many adversities through the years. You have helped us lift up the
shield of faith, which has quenched all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
God is faithful.
We hold to
the promise of his word in II Corinthians 4:17, "For our light affliction,
which is but for a moment worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal
weight of glory." Psalm 34:19 says, "many are the afflictions of the
righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all."
We trust
that through the years, our music and ministry have been an encouragement to
you. We are writing this letter to share our heart with our friends. We
have a desire to expand the outreach of this ministry. Through the years,
we have often been asked to go on missionary trips to places like China,
Russia, the Philippine Islands, Jamaica, and Australia. Unfortunately, we
were not able to because of a lack of funds.
The Apostle
Paul said in Romans 10:13-15, "'For whosoever shall call upon the name of
the Lord shall be saved.' How then shall they call on Him in whom they have
not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not
heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they
preach, except they be sent?"
In the 29
years of our ministry, we have never wanted to be an extra burden to the
Body of Christ. We have been a faith-based ministry and never charged to
sing at a church. As most of you know, we give away our CDs and cassettes
freely with what we call "The Family Special." The prices of our CDs and
cassettes are truly a donation.
However
there is so much more that we would like to do, but we need our friends to
help by sending this ministry out into the world. Transportation,
recordings, and our desire to go on missionary trips to other countries all
take money.
We would like each one of you to
join us in what we are calling our friends and partners:

Luke 21:1-4 says, "And He [Jesus] looked
up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw
also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites." And He said,
"of a truth i say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more
than they all: for all these have of their abundance cast in unto the
offerings of god: but she of her penury hath cast in all of the living she
had."
Mark 12:41-44 says, "And Jesus sat over
against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the
treasury; and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain
poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And
He called unto Him His disciples, and saith unto them,
verily I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast more
in, than all they which have cast into the treasury. For all they did cast
in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had,
even all her living."
We would like you to become what we are calling a
Homeward Bound
"WIDOWMITE"
We would like you to consider sending a
monthly gift of $2.00.
You might be asking the question,
why only $2.00?
First of all, it will remind you to pray for
us all the time!
Secondly, we don't want to become a heavy
burden on you.
But
we need your help! Please join us in encouraging the Body of Christ and
proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. |
