Eliemeca Ben Meir; we called him (Elie). Elie really helped the land come alive to me ( Randy ) personally. Elie was an amazing historian about the lands of that part of the world. The Garden of Gethsemane was absolutely beautiful. The Olive Tree on the right is believed to be as old as 2,000 years which means it would have been around when Our Lord was here during his earthly ministry.
This is the top of Mt. Arbel that overlooks the

This is Caesarea, Philippi where Peter made his famous confession of Christ
in Matthew 16:13-16 Jesus said in verse 13 "Who do men
say that I am" and in verse 16 Peter said, "Thou art the Christ, The
Son of the living God."
This is considered to be the Holiest site in Israel. It is under the Temple Mount and only women are allowed to come and pray here according to our guide Elie. It faces the Holy of Holies where the first temple would have been.
This is the Garden Tomb. As you can see it has been repaired because of
deterioration from over 2,000 years of weather damage. It was here where we
all were moved to tears as we entered the tomb. This was one of the most
precious moments of the tour.
Their is a bus station that has been built at the place known as "Calvary" or "The place of the Skull". It is believed that this is the place where the Romans crucified Jesus
The Dead Sea as seen from the top of Masada. Masada was where Jewish patriots defied the Roman empire. They refused to become slaves to Rome and chose rather to die on the top of Masada This view was from our Hotel at the Dead Sea.
Darrell and Brock took a walk in Caesarea next to the Mediterranean Sea.
Caesarea is where in Acts chapter 10 the first Gentile, Cornelius a
centurion of the Italian band, along with his family accepted Jesus Christ
as their Savior.
This is a Roman Theater in Caesarea where they still use this site today to put on Concerts.
We stood and sang on the stage at Tel Beth-Shean which is the city where Israel's first king came to his demise. King Saul's body was hung on the wall of the city. We sang on the stage in Caesarea where king Harod built a place where different forms of entertainment was performed for the pleasure of the affluent. You can see the Mediterranean Sea in the background.
We stood on the top of Mount Carmel where Elijah would call down fire from heaven as he challenged the prophets of Baal to prove who was truly God. We could see in the distance the city of Nazareth where our Lord would grow up as a boy. From the top of Mount Carmel we could view the Jezreel Valley where Elijah would outrun King Ahab's chariot to the gates of the city.
From the bus window you can see the old route to the city of Nazareth. Just think, our Lord played here as a boy and walked this same route to the carpenters house he lived in during his youth. The Municipality of Nazareth
These are the streets of the old city of Jerusalem
These are the steps to the Temple. Our guide Elie told us that we can be sure that according to the New Testament our Lord taught on these very steps that lead to the temple.
The Eastern Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem. Darrell talks his way out of being arrested for showing his knees.
The Via Dolorosa called The Way to Calvary. This is one of the stations that it is believed Christ walked to his Crucifixion. Looking out of the Prayer and Reading room next to the Western Wall. Or as it is known in the states The Wailing Wall. |
